Manages: Crew Leaders, Construction Volunteers (groups and individuals)

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Tuesday through Saturday

Starting Pay Range: $52,000-$62,400, commensurate with experience. Benefits.

Summary: Site supervisors are responsible for directing and supervising all on-site construction and remodeling activities. This position holds a key role in actualizing our mission to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope and provide safe, decent and affordable housing. The Site Supervisor manages volunteer build days and balances volunteer experience with production goals, and is responsible for maintaining the highest safety and quality standards in all our construction projects. The Site Supervisor should be able to successfully accommodate first-time volunteers as well as experienced lead volunteers. The Site Supervisor promotes Habitat on the build site and should be able to speak confidently and comfortably about Habitat to large groups.

The Site Supervisor will oversee Habitat’s high quality and sustainable construction practices. The Site Supervisor also assists the Director of Construction in all aspects of site development and construction implementation such as work schedules and project management tasks including material logistics, permitting processes, scheduling and oversight of subcontractors, and inspection processes. The Site Supervisor should have an entrepreneurial spirit and be comfortable working in a resource thin environment.

This individual must understand and appreciate the mission of FHFH. Qualified candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational skills and possess a strong attention to detail. Must be able to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with all kinds of individuals, yet remain consistent in keeping a professional demeanor. Comfort speaking in front of small groups a plus.

Familiarity with construction terms, broad knowledge of all phases of residential construction and the ability to read blueprints required. Must understand and abide by safety requirements when using equipment and tools, and must be able to determine the appropriate tools/equipment to use for the various construction tasks.

Must possess the ability and patience to teach and work with workers in all facets of home construction. Timeliness, patience, dependability and an ability to work unsupervised are critical for this position, as well as being a team player and quick-learner. Must be willing to share our organizational values of working hard, valuing teamwork and being accountable, with professionalism and integrity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Required to lift 60-80 pounds on a regular basis and will experience frequent bending, squatting, lifting and repetitive motion. This position will be working outside year-round and must be adaptable to extreme changes in weather (e.g., heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

 Manage all on-site activities for residential new construction projects

o Manage both an inexperienced and experienced volunteer labor force

o Help plan and manage a construction schedule

o Learn and Present "Habitat 101" and give safety instructions to volunteer groups

o Work with crew leader volunteers to maintain quality construction, safety and

volunteer experience

o Become an authoritative source on Habitat construction practices

o Ensure tools and site support materials are available as needed

 Manage Materials

o Create takeoffs for ordering materials and assist the Director of Construction

manage delivery within the construction schedule

o Verify material purchases when delivered to the site

o Identify opportunities for improving quality, cost benefit, and ease of installation

of all materials

o Minimize material waste and manage construction waste diversion practices

 Development

o Represent Habitat positively as the face of the organization

o Assist Director of Construction to identify qualified volunteers for potential Crew

Leader positions

o Emphasize and foster a positive volunteer experience daily

o Identify best practices for construction with volunteers and collaborate with other

affiliates for streamlining and cost sharing

 Manage Subcontractors

o Assist Director of Construction with contractor procurement/bid processes

o Assist Director of Construction with scheduling of subcontractors

o Ensure trades have a positive experience when working with FHFH

o Monitor trades' progress, quality and compliance with safety policy

o Works with Construction Director to schedule and manage building inspections

Skills and Experience:

 Skills

o General Construction Knowledge

o Competent at public speaking and interpersonal interactions

o Patience and ability to teach building techniques to inexperienced volunteers

o Flexibility in a fluid construction environment

o Willingness to work cooperatively with the Director of Construction and other staff

 Experience

o At least 1 year of Residential Construction/project management experience

o Strong understanding of residential construction practices and processes

o Volunteer management/leadership experience beneficial

o Experience working with City and County building departments preferred

 Licenses

o Valid Driver's license with a clean driving record

o Habitat for Humanity's Competent Person certification (obtain within one year)
