This position will report directly to the Director, National Security Initiative (NSI) within the Research and Innovation Office (RIO). The hypersonics Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for designing and performing research in advancing the development and application of computational tools for the analysis of various aspects of hypersonic vehicle performance and phenomena including aerothermodynamics, materials, structures, propulsion, signatures, and mission design.The candidate must have a detailed understanding of the current U.S. activities on hypersonics in the national security domain, both in terms of weapons development and approaches to counter hypersonics. Develop and apply computational tools for analysis of various aspects of hypersonic vehicle performance and phenomena including aerothermodynamics, materials, structures, propulsion, signatures, and mission design.

Assist in the development of research proposals, key research tasks, and deliverables.

Effectively share and communicate research results with colleagues, researchers and professionals in industry, government, national laboratories and academia through white papers, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations.

What You Should Know

Travel out-of-state will be required.

Irregular work hours including evenings and weekends may be required.

The anticipated start date for this position is July 2024.

This is a term-limited, 12-month position renewable subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funding.

PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
