Custom Steel Door and Window Installer/Finisher

Bild MFG is a full-service designer and manufacturer of custom steel storefronts, doors, and windows.
We also manage glazing/glass installation.
As our systems are custom, they incorporate an array of custom “standard” elements that require technical skills that involve the knowledge and experience of working with steel, brass, and glass.
Required is also experienced in installing hardware (hinges, locksets, window stays, etc.) and glass with the application of “wet-glazing retaining beads.”
Site conditions vary across each install and necessitate the proper application of waterproofing for exterior storefronts, and detail coordination and execution for interior finish that involve other trades. Bild MFG primarily works within high-end residential & commercial developments/projects across Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles county and the need for a dependable and professional looking work vehicle to take yourself to and from job sites and the shop is essential.
You will be expected to occasionally pick up and drop off materials like steel stock, sheet metal, and hardware components while also being able to keep installed items safe and organized. We have a delivery truck and job site forklift to assist with large installs, but you will occasionally need to transport systems, glass, ladders, and tools in your own work truck.
Required Skills:
-Reading plans and confirming dimensions of openings and built systems
-Coordinating with superintendents, trades, and Bild’s design team
-Cutting, drilling, tapping steel and brass
-Finishing: touch ups on painted or patina’d/clear coated systems
-Basic woodworking/framing knowledge
-Operating a tape measure, level, and laser
-Hardware integration and hanging doors and windows with commercial quality locksets, weather seals, and hinging hardware
-Glass handling and transportation
-Glass installation: o Using foam glazing tapes with a “hard-stop” sandwiched system o Wet glaze using Dow Corning 795 with beveled retaining beads (tooled silicon)
-Waterproofing and flashing installation on site prep and install
-Taking site dimensions and relaying to the design team
-Onsite modifications and troubleshooting

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour

-8 hour shift
-Monday to Friday
