DescriptionThe County of Ventura Health Care Agency is looking for a skilled Physical Therapist to join the team at Ventura County Medical Center. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in improving the lives of our patients. Your expertise will contribute to the mission of providing exceptional care and transformative therapy, empowering patients to live fuller, healthier lives.Under general supervision, the Physical Therapist (PT) and the Physical Therapist PDP (Payroll title: Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP III) assists in the habilitation and rehabilitation of patients by providing services to patients with impairments, functional limitations, disability, or change in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes.Under direction, Senior Physical Therapist (Sr PT) and the Senior Physical Therapist PDP (Payroll title: Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP IV) evaluates referred patients; plans, coordinates resources, and administers physical therapy treatment programs; plans and supervises the clinical skills of staff physical therapists and physical therapy assistants, aides, volunteers and students.The Per Diem Pool (PDP) classifications are distinguished from the Regular classifications in that the incumbents in these classifications receive limited benefits. They will receive shift differential, standby and callback premium pay and will participate in the Ventura County Employees' Retirement Association if they are assigned a biweekly work schedule of 64 hours or more. Incumbents hired into these positions are not guaranteed any specific number of work hours per biweekly pay period, and management has the authority to relieve them from duty when there is insufficient work.APPROXIMATE SALARY:Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP III: $54.80 hourlyRehabilitation Therapist-PDP IV: $60.52 hourlyPhysical Therapist: $37.37 – $52.25 hourlySenior Physical Therapist: 40.99 – $60.38 hourlyEDUCATIONAL/BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Possible educational incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on completion of Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree. Incumbents may also be eligible for bilingual incentive depending upon operational need and certification of skill.CERTIFICATION PAY - Incumbents in the Physical Therapist and Sr. Physical therapist classification are eligible for certification pay at a rate of $0.80 per hour based on their scheduled work week hours and not to exceed the scheduled work week hours for each qualified certification possessed up to a maximum of three (3) certifications.AGENCY/DEPARTMENT: Health Care Agency – Ventura County Medical CenterThe Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP III & IV, Physical Therapist, and Senior Physical Therapist are represented by the Service Employees' International Union (SEIU) and are eligible for overtime compensation.The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular (including Temporary and Fixed-Term), Per Diem Pool, Intermittent, and Extra-Help vacancies. There is currently one (1) Full-Time Regular vacancy at the Senior Physical Therapist level. NOTE: If appointed at the lower level, incumbent may be promoted to the higher level(s) without further examination upon meeting the minimum requirements, demonstrating satisfactory performance, and in accordance with the business needs of the department.TENTATIVE SCHEDULEOPENING DATE: 5/22/2024CLOSING DATE: 6/5/2024Examples Of DutiesDuties may include, but are not limited to the following:

Initiates and maintains records of patient's status and progress.

Upon physician referral, establishes realistic functional goals based on the therapist's evaluation, appropriate precautions and in collaboration with the patient, family, and physician directing care.

Provides patient and family education to assist in the achievement of functional goals.

Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, equipment vendors, social workers, nutritionists, patients, and families to manage the rehabilitation program and specialize equipment needs of each patient.

Participates in ongoing quality improvement.

Attends staff meetings, assigned clinics, and rounds as directed.

In addition to the above listed duties, the Senior Physical Therapist and Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP IV level may also perform the following:

Supervises the clinical skills of staff therapists.

Provides in-service training.

Assists in identifying and prioritizing department needs and overall planning.

Supervises assistants, aides, students, volunteers, and clerical staff in the absence of the supervisor.

Participates in improving organizational performance.

Coordinates physical therapy programs with patients/caregivers, other team members, and others involved in the care of assigned patients.

Participates in the maintenance of departmental equipment and ordering of supplies.

Under supervision, develops and implements department programs.

Confers with physicians on patient needs.

May split shift between clinic and hospital locations, when needed.

Performs other related duties as required.

Typical QualificationsEducation, Training and ExperienceA broad background consisting of training and/or experience which would provide the knowledge and abilities to perform in Physical TherapyRehabilitation Physical Therapist-PDP III: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of physical therapy or proof of equivalency.Rehabilitation Physical Therapist-PDP IV: A broad background consisting of education, training, and/or experience which would provide the knowledge and abilities to perform in physical therapyA Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of physical therapy or proof of equivalency, plus two (2) years of physical therapy experience OR successful completion of an internship program with the hiring department or an equivalent training program and one (1) year of experience as a physical therapist.Physical Therapist: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of physical therapy, or proof of equivalency.Senior Physical Therapist: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of physical therapy or proof of equivalencyAND Two (2) years of physical therapy experience OR successful completion of an internship program with the hiring department or an equivalent training program and one (1) year of experience as a PT.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted.

Possession of a current valid Physical Therapist license issued by the State of California OR eligibility to apply for and obtain a valid California Physical Therapist license within the probationary period, which, once obtained, is a condition of continued employment.

Possession of a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate by date of hire, which, once obtained, is a condition of continued employment.

Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver license and proof of auto insurance may be required.

Live scan fingerprinting clearance is required prior to appointment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Thorough (PT & Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP III) to comprehensive (Sr PT & Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP IV) knowledge of: the principles of human anatomy and physiology; administering various types of physical therapy treatment utilizing manual therapy techniques, exercise, and use of equipment; departmental processes and procedures; safe driving practices; care and maintenance of physical therapy equipment.Working ability to: establish effective working relationships with patients, physicians, and co-workers; plan and supervise the work of others (Sr PT & Rehabilitation Therapist PDP IV); lift and carry up to 50 pounds ; and communicate effectively orally and in written form.
