Business and Tax Paralegal

Description We are in search of a Business and Tax Paralegal to join our team in Vacaville, California. In this role, you will be focusing on complex business and tax law as well as bankruptcy issues. You will be required to conduct comprehensive legal research, draft and prepare legal documents, and assist with client intake. Your workplace will be in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you will be managing client communication and maintaining accurate and detailed case files.Responsibilities: Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on business, tax law, and bankruptcy issues. Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, contracts, and IRS and FTB filings. Handle client intake procedures, including conducting interviews, gathering information, and preparing case files. Manage client communication, ensuring prompt responses to inquiries and providing updates on case progress. Maintain accurate and detailed case files, with all documents properly indexed and filed. Prepare for meetings, hearings, and trials by gathering evidence, drafting exhibits, and assisting attorneys with presentations. Prepare tax elections and filings, and distribute communications to, monitor and handle requests from tax agencies. Input bankruptcy filing data and work with attorneys and clients to prepare bankruptcy petitions and schedules for filing. Conduct legal and factual investigations, including asset searches and document review. Collaborate effectively with opposing counsel, court clerks, and other legal professionals. Stay updated on legal developments in business and tax law as well as bankruptcy through continuing education and research. Utilize tools and software such as Aderant, Adobe Acrobat, Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS), Case Management Software, CompuLaw, and others for efficient task completion. Potentially supervise and mentor junior paralegals. Requirements Proficiency in Aderant, Adobe Acrobat, Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS), Case Management Software, and CompuLaw Experience with billing functions, briefing, and calendar management Strong skills in claim administration and communication In-depth understanding of business laws and tax law Experience in entity formation Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills Bachelor’s degree in law or related field is preferred Prior experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
