Phil’s Catering is a well-established, family-owned catering company serving the Central Coast for over 30 years. We provide high-quality, thoughtfully prepared food for weddings, private events, and community gatherings. As our events grow in size and frequency, we’re looking for a reliable and experienced Site Chef to lead on-location food service with confidence and care.
Position Overview:
The Site Chef is responsible for managing food preparation, service, and kitchen operations at off-site events. This role is ideal for someone with strong organizational and culinary skills and—above all—an unwavering commitment to showing up and showing up ready. Reliability is the single most important quality we are looking for.
Key Responsibilities:
-Lead all food service on-site, including final preparation, plating, and/or buffet execution
-Oversee kitchen setup and breakdown at event locations
-Ensure food quality, safety, and presentation standards are upheld
-Manage and direct support staff during food service
-Communicate with event managers and front-of-house staff to coordinate timing
-Troubleshoot challenges calmly and professionally in real-time
-Transport and manage equipment and ingredients as needed
Requirements:
-Culinary experience (catering, banquet, or restaurant)
-Dependable and punctual — must be committed to showing up prepared and on time
-Strong organizational and communication skills
-Availability Saturdays (other days may occasionally be required)
-Ability to lift 40 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
-Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
-ServSafe or Food Handlers Certification (or willingness to obtain)
-Previous experience as a cook in off-site or mobile kitchen settings
