We are in search of an innovative and experienced Executive Chef who will be able to lead our culinary team, elevate the guests' dining experience, and deliver consistent, quality dishes in a high-volume environment in beautiful San Luis Obispo County. Essential Job Functions:
Oversee and lead daily operations of the kitchen, including daily prep checklists, scheduling, and other administrative duties
Create and update menus, training culinary team on all aspects of each dish including presentation
Plan and direct all prep and line activities, giving direction and teaching where needed
Maintain accurate inventory/pars and order within budgetary guidelines
Comply with all state and local health and safety regulations and laws
Interact with all other staff members in a positive and professional manner, including front of house team
Walk the floor to engage with guests in the restaurant in order to build loyalty
Perform other tasks as assigned by Director of Food & Beverage
Additional Job Duties:
Flexible work schedule with the ability to work some nights, weekends and holidays
Attend local off-site promotional functions as directed by Director of Food & Beverage
Continuous professional development (books, culinary workshops, and seminars)
Stay up to date on culinary trends and innovations
Education, Experience, Skills:
High school diploma; 2-year culinary degree, or accredited apprenticeship preferred
3-5 years prior kitchen experience in a high-volume establishment
Excellent command of English language
Ability to speak Spanish preferred
Ability to work with and manage people effectively.
Ability to multitask and work in mentally demanding situations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand continuously for the duration of the shift (eight or more hours).
Ability to lift small packages (excess of 50 pounds).
Be able to stretch, bend, bend and lift frequently up to 40 pounds in weight.
