Position Overview:
As a Heavy Civil Construction Laborer, you will be an integral part of our construction team, responsible for assisting in the execution of various heavy civil projects. Your primary focus will be on supporting skilled tradespeople, operating heavy machinery, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate is a hardworking, detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Construction Site Support:
- Assist skilled tradespeople, including equipment operators and construction crews, in various tasks as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized construction site by removing debris, garbage, and hazardous materials.
2. Material Handling:
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Transport materials to different areas of the construction site using appropriate methods and equipment.
3. Equipment Operation:
- Operate small construction equipment, such as jackhammers, compaction equipment, and other hand tools, under supervision.
- Assist equipment operators with the safe and efficient operation of heavy machinery.
4. Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, protocols, and regulations to ensure a secure working environment.
- Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly to the supervisor.
5. Project Support:
- Support the construction team in meeting project milestones and deadlines.
- Collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.
6. General Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance on tools, equipment, and machinery to ensure proper functionality.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in heavy civil construction or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of construction practices, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid California driver's license.
