We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our team at The Land in Philo. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and general maintenance of the retreat property. This includes performing a wide range of tasks such as plumbing, electrical repairs, fence and vehicle maintenance, and managing the property’s water systems. Who we are:
We are a meditation retreat center and have been here for 8 years. We eat meals together and base all our work on connection first.
Key Responsibilities:
Plumbing Repairs: Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs on plumbing systems, including faucets, toilets, sinks, water heaters and drainage.
Electrical Maintenance: Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues, install light fixtures, outlets, and switches, and ensure systems are safe and compliant with regulations.
Fence Repair and Installation: Conduct routine inspections and repairs of fences, gates, and other barriers to maintain property security and aesthetics.
Water System Maintenance: Maintain and repair water treatment systems, pumps, and irrigation systems to ensure proper functionality.
Vehicle Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance and repair on the property’s vehicles, including routine oil changes, tire inspections, and brake repairs.
General Property Maintenance: Ensure that all areas of the retreat property are well-maintained, including repairs to buildings, pathways, and outdoor facilities.
Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections of the property’s infrastructure and equipment to identify potential issues and address them before they become major problems.
Equipment Management: Maintain and repair landscaping equipment, tools, and machinery as necessary.
Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues and complete repairs efficiently to minimize disruption to retreat guests and staff.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with local regulations and retreat property guidelines.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role
Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and basic carpentry
Experience with vehicle maintenance and water system management is a plus
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of issues
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
Relevant certifications or technical training
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods
