Director of Engineering

The Director of Engineering oversees the facility management of a private golf club in Marin County. This is a senior role and plays an integral part of the leadership team, while requiring outstanding project management skills, a broad knowledge of facilities management, excellent communications skills and a “hands on” approach to addressing the maintenance of our facilities.

Responsibilities

Management of the day-to-day operations of all our buildings.

Oversight and direction of all Building Engineers on property.

Oversight of projects involving infrastructure as well as managing operating and capital expenses.

Manage the operation and maintenance of facilities, including HVAC, refrigeration, ice making, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen appliances and structural systems as needed.

Maintain safety protocol and ensure all safety items are stocked and fire suppressions are operational.

Ensure all functions and duties are being carried out by staff each day and include your personal involvement as needed.

Workplace Operations

Direction of all aspects of operations for facilities.

Management of the facilities team, outside service providers and staff engineers.

Partner with department Managers to ensure requirements for facilities are addressed and met.

Review staffing levels for the engineering team and for projects.

Hire and train engineering staff to maintain excellent service levels.

Select and negotiate service provider agreements used to maintain facilities throughout the property.

Provide detailed annual operating and CAPEX budgets.

Analyze costs and monitor expenses throughout the year while executing cost reduction and containment where appropriate.

Reduce facilities unit costs while maintaining service levels by analyzing the value of service provided.

Renegotiate vendor contracts where appropriate.

Ensure staffing is at proper levels by developing metrics to understand when changes are required.

Ensure that facility activities/improvements are in alignment of an enhanced member experience.

Develop operating metrics and Service Level Agreements for the facilities.

Project Management

Analyze each project to determine if will be managed internally or outsourced.

Define project requirements to include; site selection, design process, overseeing construction, and coordinating with other departments affected by the project.

Work with the General Manager and other Managers to determine best fit of service providers (including project managers, design team) to deliver projects.

Monitor and ensure schedules and budgets are developed and adhered to for each project, utilizing existing processes, tools and templates.

Communicate and provide timely and detailed project progress reports on a regular basis to the GM & CFO.

Skills/Requirements

Possess a thorough understanding of industry standards, including building practices, environmental factors and project management.

Demonstrated team leader with ability to lead internal and external teams.

Financial analysis experience and familiarity with accounting and financial concepts of real estate, capital projects and facilities operations.

Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite, Including MS Project.

Ability to utilize Paylocity payroll software.

Strong client relationship management and interpersonal skills.

Excellent communication skills including strong oral, presentation and written communication and professional presence.

Ability to establish and preserve excellent working relationships with management, committees and the Board of Directors.

Required: Must have HVAC Certification

Salary Range $95K to $150K, depending upon experience. CPO certification a plus. Excellent benefits and great working environment.
