Cabinet Vision Drafter/Engineer
Full-Time, In-Person | Competitive Pay & Benefits
About Us:
We are a high-end custom cabinet and furniture shop in Oakland, CA, with steady work and a strong project pipeline. While most of our shop drawings are completed by subcontractors in AutoCAD before being redone in Cabinet Vision, we are looking to streamline this process and improve efficiency through Lean Manufacturing principles and standardized workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
Create detailed shop drawings, engineering plans, and cut lists
CNC programing using Cabinet Vision, AutoCAD, and other CAD/CAM software.
Develop and submit accurate, high quality shop submittals for client approval.
Work with AutoCAD for initial drawings and assist in transitioning to a more efficient workflow (we will help the right candidate boost their skills in AutoCAD, if needed)
Collaborate with contractors, designers, and architects to finalize layouts.
Work closely with our company president, shop crew, and project managers to maintain schedules and balance multiple projects.
Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for drafting, engineering, and production coordination.
Identify and resolve design and production issues proactively.
Help implement Lean Manufacturing practices to improve workflow and efficiency (prior experience with Lean Manufacturing is a plus but training will be provided).
What You Bring To The Table:
Advanced proficiency in Cabinet Vision software is required.
Experience with AutoCAD is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of cabinet construction, joinery, and installation.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
Experience in Lean Manufacturing or process improvement is a plus.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
A minimum of 5 years professional experience in cabinetmaking or woodworking.
Willingness to work in-person Monday through Friday from 6am to 2:30pm. No exceptions.
Due to the frequency of one-off designs and highly custom work, we need a team member that will work at our office during standard business hours. Remote work options will be considered if submitted work is consistently meeting standards without need for additional guidance. Remote work is not guaranteed and will not be granted as a permanent employment option at this time.
