Clinical Support/Billing Specialist (Full-Time)
Location: San Francisco, CA
Pay: $28–$33/hour + benefits
Schedule: Weekdays, some flexibility
The University of the Pacific Hearing and Balance Center in San Francisco (https://hearingclinic.pacific.edu/) is hiring a Clinical Support / Billing Specialist. This a key position combining patient care and clinic operations. This role offers room to grow, a clear promotion pathway, and potential for remote work once onboarding and the probationary period are complete. If you're detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and experienced with billing, insurance, or medical admin work, this could be a great fit.
What You’ll Do:
Verify insurance, manage authorizations, and submit/reconcile claims
Prepare patient bills, collect payments, and follow up on outstanding accounts
Support Medicare/Medi-Cal credentialing and clinic compliance
Track clinic revenue and assist with financial reporting
Manage clinic supplies, vendor payments, and purchasing (ProCard)
Occasionally help at the front desk (phones, check-in)

What You Bring:
Two (2) years of post-high school education. (Two (2) years of full-time experience in
same/similar position is equal to one (1) year of post-high school education).
Two (2) years of responsible administrative experience, with billing processes, insurance
verification, and financial management.
Experience in Microsoft office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook email)
Nice to have:
Certification in medical billing and coding or similar credentials.
Ability to assume responsibility and work effectively with minimum supervision.
Strong experience in point-of-sale systems or billing software.
Excellent customer service skills and experience in patient service.
Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office suite with the ability to adapt to emerging
technology.
Familiarity with basic budget and bookkeeping procedures, legal compliance with HIPAA,
insurance collection policies, and all other practice-related protocols.
Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university
setting.
Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their
work.
