Security Guard — Coast House

General Purpose

The Security Guard is responsible for protecting the clients, employees, volunteers, and property of Coast House Shelter. Responsibilities include monitoring the property (perimeter, parking lot, and other areas, evicting trespassers, and writing reports detailing any occurrences during your shift.

Report to: Program Director

Salary Range: $19 - $22 per hour

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

 Patrolling and monitoring the property for the entire duration of your shift

 Being visible regularly outside to discourage trespassing, discourage clients from bringing extra belongings, discourage clients from brining drugs and alcohol on the property, and discourage clients from bringing visitors to property

 Monitoring the entry and departure of employees, clients, vehicles, and visitors according to company protocols

 Monitoring surveillance cameras to watch out for disruptions, suspicious, or criminal behavior

 Providing detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents to management

 Using provided communication devices including two-way radios in a clear and professional manner

 Providing CPR and First Aid as needed

 Keep an eye on vehicles parked on the property and verify with RSCs, Leads, or Case Managers if a vehicle belongs to a resident

 Calling the tow company to remove unauthorized vehicles from the property

 Enforcing the rules of the program in a trauma informed manner

 Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Education and Experience

 Must have CA Guard Card

 Must have CPR and First Aid Certificate
