Come join Lotus Bloom as our new Family Navigator at our Room to Bloom site in East Oakland! We are looking for someone who is passionate about connecting children and their families with resources typically unavailable to traditionally underserved communities through a network of community-based organizations and agencies that Lotus Bloom has identified and partnered with through our years of work in the early childhood education space.

What You’ll Do

The Family Navigator is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with families, conducting developmental screenings, and providing support to the families participating in Lotus Bloom playgroups. Reporting to the Site Director, the Family Navigators support families using a multi-channel communication approach (in-person, virtual, telephonic) with basic needs, resources, and referrals to community partners. Family Navigators are responsible for case management and acting as a liaison between families, staff, and other community, family-related services.

What Experience You Will Bring

Minimum of 1 year of experience in family support, resource referral or case management in a social service, education, or nonprofit environment

Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task; strong organizational skills.

Previous knowledge of and experience with Strengthening Families Framework and its application to family support and early childhood programs

Intermediate proficiency in either MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) or Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets).

Intermediate proficiency with Canva, Zoom, and other cloud-based platforms

Previous experience working in diverse communities.

Preferred Qualifications

Verbal and written skills in Spanish, Cantonese, or Arabic languages a plus

Educational attainment/degree in social welfare, early childhood education, or related field

Two (2) years of teaching experience

Physical Requirements

This position performs its duties in an open classroom and office environment. You must be able to perform the following duties with or without accommodation:

Stand, sit, kneel, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for the duration of shift.

Able to operate standard office equipment including computers, keyboard, phones, and printers.

Traverse safely throughout the entirety of the facility.

Safely lift, move, and transport items weighing up to 30 lbs.

Communicate in a clear speaking voice in person, over the phone and during video conferences.

Ability to complete health screening including Tb clearance and DOJ LiveScan screening.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a regular part-time, non-exempt position scheduled to work 32 hours per week, Mondays through Fridays, 9:00 am – 3:30 pm. The rate of pay is $22.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending upon experience. Lotus Bloom offers the following benefits for this position including:

Choice of Kaiser HMO or Aetna POS medical plan and Delta Dental PPO dental plan with 100% coverage for employees and 50% for dependents. VSP Vision is optional add-on coverage.

Paid leaves of absence including 13 paid holidays, 80 hours of vacation accrual and 80 paid sick leave accrual in your 1st year.

Lotus Bloom is a family resource center where children aged 0-5 and their parents/caregivers learn, play, gain confidence, and find connections to other parents, health resources, and education resources. Many of our staff are former caregivers who participated in Lotus Bloom playgroups previously. Our diverse and dedicated staff members are thus able to connect with families using both their educational knowledge, on the job learning, and lived experiences.
