Minimum Capabilities:
Follow Safety practices, including wearing safety glasses at all times.
Load material, work-in-progress parts, and fixtures in CNC machine vices.
Use basic files and demurring tools.
Measure work parts with calipers.
Read and understand dimensions from setup sheets (setup drawings).
Setup and run horizontal band saw.
Operate demurring tumbling machine.
Keep machine coolant within specified machine levels. Mix, add, and verify with refractometer.
Perform basic machine maintenance and cleaning.
Remove metal chips from machines and manage chip recycling program.
Part counting.
Part bagging.
Bag labelling.
Desired Capabilities:
Basic CNC machine operation: axis jog, tool changing, and machine startup.
Install tools in Cat 40 end mill holders.
Install tools in Cat 40 ER style holders.
Grind flats on carbide end mills.
Able to set X,Y tool offsets using an edge finder.
Able to set tool height offsets, and Z offsets using gauge blocks or an indicator.
Able to prepare vices for material holding using parallels and spreader springs.
Able to prepare vices for part work holding using soft jaws.
Able to set a variety of work stops.
