WANTED: PART-TIME GALLERY MANAGER / GRAPHIC DESIGNER
A minimum of 10 hrs / week, occasionally more, with potential to grow.
Must be available to work on-site at the gallery, Friday and Saturday, 1:00 – 6:00
Pay: $20 - 30/hr, depending upon prior experience
We are a cutting-edge media arts gallery, art book publisher, and production company in San Francisco’s SoMa District. We are looking for a gallery manager and in-house graphic designer to assist with every facet of our operation.
Principal responsibilities involve preparing and distributing promotional materials for exhibitions. This includes the designing and printing of postcards, wall signs, posters, and stickers, along with updating our website (Squarespace), sending email blasts to our mailing list (Mailchimp), posting to our social media accounts (Later), and managing our on-line bookstores (Shopify/Amazon),
Other responsibilities include helping with opening receptions, manning gallery hours, welcoming visitors, introducing them to exhibitions, answering their questions, communicating with artists and writers, assisting our preparator with the installation and de-installation of exhibitions, and helping to maintain the gallery.
We typically release one or two exhibition catalogs or artist books per year, which you would play an important role in designing and printing. This is a unique opportunity for an emerging graphic designer, or a mid-career graphic designer interested in the arts, working with top-tier artists and arts professionals.
You need NOT be familiar already with all the various computer programs listed above. We will train you! However, fluency with computers (Mac) and computer programs (like those listed above) is essential.
NICE TO HAVE: expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Premiere. We also would highly value expert help in growing our social media accounts and researching grant opportunities.
