Title: Designer (Mid-level)
Reports to: Senior Designers + CEO
Location: Work from Home | San Francisco Bay Area
Company:
IDF Studio brings thoughtful, personalized style to residential and commercial clients in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. We aim to be a refreshing alternative to the typical “principal-based” interior design firm; we treat people like family and our projects are led by our various Lead Designers. We believe that honest problem-solving and great project management set our designers apart from the herd, resulting in winning projects that are both stylish and sincere.
Position:
IDF Studio values our ability to help clients of all shapes and sizes. From quick residential consulting jobs to ground-up new home construction, fast-turnaround office design projects to full-scale HQ renovations, the Designer is responsible for supporting all aspects of residential and commercial projects. You do NOT need extensive experience in both residential and commercial projects in order to apply, but both interest and some experience are ideal. We’re looking for that “triple threat” – someone who has a great sense of style, is an efficient project manager, and communicates well, leaving our clients wanting more!
Designer responsibilities include supporting our Senior Designers with site measures, space planning, sourcing, budgeting, vendor/contractor communication and coordination, project installations, and styling. You may also assist with or oversee purchasing and expediting (alongside our dedicated purchasing agent). Over time, the Designer will run their own projects, with supervision provided by our senior staff.
Requirements:
Full-time access to a reliable car. Mileage is reimbursed at IRS standard rates.
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or equivalent
Minimum 5-7 years of related experience (NOTE: if you are super awesome designer but don't quite have the minimum experience, we'd still love to hear from you)
While this is a remote/hybrid position, you MUST be located in the Bay Area, as regular travel to project sites is required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and construction documents
Experience using Studio Designer is ideal but not required
IDEX, NCIDQ, LEED, and/or similar certification or coursework a plus
Good balance of left brain and right brain skills – you should be creative AND organized
Excellent management and communication skills
Team player, positive attitude, strong desire to continually learn and grow
Excellent troubleshooting and prioritization skills; you are considered a ‘closer’ and get things done
Schedule:
IDF Studio’s “open for business” hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. This is a full-time, exempt position. Your schedule will vary based on project load, to which you will have good visibility via our project pipeline. Our team works from home and stays connected via phone, text, email, and Zoom. We also meet in person approximately 1-5 times a month, at our Mill Valley HQ, and for fun social events, roughly 3x/year. You may also be expected to travel on occasion.
Compensation:
Pay is commensurate with experience. Benefits include group health insurance, matching 401k plan, vacation, sick time, holidays, and parental leave.
