The Junior Designer position requires a resourceful, talented designer with demonstrated communication skills and a collaborative spirit. This candidate must be able to work effectively with colleagues and high achieving clients. Full-time, hybrid position – two days in the San Francisco office, three days remote.
Responsibilities:
Assist the principal and senior designers with project design assignments.
Contribute to and facilitate team communications, developing and maintaining strong internal and external relationships.
Contribute to all project phases: strategy, schematic plans, refining solutions for design development, construction documentation.
Comfortably manage assignments on multiple projects and meet deadlines as directed by senior staff.
Participate in regular video meetings with ABD team as required.
Produce detailed architectural plans, elevations and lighting plans.
Prepare and present graphic presentations, including 3D renderings and models.
Furniture and materials sourcing, selection, specifying and documenting.
Creating and maintaining proposals and purchasing documents.
Create schedules for lighting, plumbing, tile, furnishings, etc. using MS Excel & Word.
Collaborate with consultants, contractors, fabricators and other vendors to achieve project objectives.
Client interaction and site visits as required.
Skills:
Sophisticated, artistic approach to design with knowledge of architectural history and design movements.
Demonstrate direct and clear communication skills.
Apply a team approach to design solutions, while also being a self-motivated worker who can anticipate up-coming needs and stay ahead of them.
Proficiency in Sketch-Up Pro and AutoCAD. Additional skills in other architectural software a plus.
Demonstrated graphic design skills. Must be proficient in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
Experience developing robust 3D models and model rendering.
Use Design Manager software to produce proposals and purchase orders.
Requirements:
1-2 years’ experience in residential design.
A bachelor’s degree in interior design or equivalent educational background.
