Ahoy! If you are a brave adventurer on the high seas of litigation with 10 years of experience litigating employment disputes, consider joining Ad Astra Law Group as our First Mate! We have been around for 10 years and growing like a weed. (This is a pun, we do a significant amount of work in the cannabis industry.) We are looking for someone who already runs their own cases and hopefully has a book of business. At a minimum, you must possesses working knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure, including discovery, document review, motion practice. Bonus points for business, IP, or real estate dispute experience. We like cross-trained lawyers. We represent mostly defendants, some plaintiffs.

We are a true lifestyle practice. We do not work nights or weekends unless the work demands that we do (i.e. trial prep) or you prefer to work odd hours. The billable hour requirement for this position is 1500 hours per year, bonuses paid for hours you bill beyond that floor.

We are a group of 9 attorneys who are mostly Super Lawyers and Rising Stars. We are as young, scrappy, and hungry as a boutique law firm can be. We handle some very high-profile matters and some very small matters that make a real difference in our clients’ lives, as well as just about everything in between. We are a certified woman-owned law firm.

We have a specialty industry focus: half of our clients are involved in the cannabis industry. Our ideal candidate will be very comfortable with legal cannabis, even if you don’t know a whole lot about it! Through our work with Ad Astra, we are on the front lines and pushing the boundaries in this new, hot industry. We also represent bars, restaurants, property owners, startups of all kinds, tech companies, you-name-it, we even once dealt with a pole dancing studio!

We are largely a remote workplace. We expect both that you would be able to work remotely and that you have the requisite self-discipline to be productive while outside the office. We do "work from work" Fridays. Everyone comes in, it is really nice to have some connection.
