Lake Merritt law firm seeks part-time File Clerk/Admin Assistant to work 4-8 hours per day as needed. (It would be helpful if you were flexible with your hours depending on workloads.) Our regular office hours are M-F, 8:30-5pm. Professional-casual office. We are looking for someone who wants to be a File Clerk/Admin Assistant, not someone looking for part-time work while in school or looking elsewhere for their preferred job. We want someone long-term who wants to stay and grow with the firm. This part-time position will most likely grow into a full-time position with standard benefits and also has the potential to offer professional growth to a Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant position.

Office duties will include but not be limited to:

Maintain cloud-based legal files, which requires scanning, distributing and filing the daily mail.

Scan voluminous incoming invoices, enter/post in billing system, file copies in filing system

Download voluminous documents and files received via Dropbox or similar, read and rename documents per office system, distribute as necessary, and file.

General office duties of Scanning, copying, incoming/outgoing mail and packages, kitchen duties, assist with making coffee, stocking office supplies and kitchen snacks when delivered, office cleanliness, stocking paper in printers, replacing toners, assist with the printing and assembly of trial binders, office projects, and other tasks as requested.

Office errands within walking distance, sometimes daily (walk to the bank or deli, and similar). Driving may be required for the very, very rare occasion for a longer errand planned in advance.

Must be detail-oriented and able to follow directions. Perfectionists welcome. Must have the ability to maintain an organized and accurate filing system. Accuracy is key. Must have prior experience working in a professional office. Candidate must be reasonably computer savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook), as well as have efficiency with copiers/scanner/printers. Must type a minimum of 60 wpm. RELIABLE, punctual, occasional light lifting, ability to be flexible and collaborative.

The successful candidate will be able to work hard, roll with changing daily priorities, open to interruptions, and willing to learn. Must be discreet and understand that client information is confidential. Experience working with Clio Manage a plus but not required. We are a paperless office.

The salary range for this position is $20-23/hr part-time, ie $41,600-48,000/yr for full time. Office is near Lake Merritt and conveniently located just a few blocks from the 20th Street BART station. Please be able to know and handle your commute so that you may arrive on time.
