A small, yet long established mid-Peninsula law firm is located in San Mateo in a building surrounded by trees and ample free parking. Our firm handles matters for a large Fortune 500 client and seeks add to our dedicated team of legal professionals.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively. The candidate will enjoy collaborating as a team, is level-headed and calm under pressure and has a sense of pride their work product.

You will be responsible for working with the team on:

- Case Management: Work with attorney and team from case inception through post-trial and appeal, case evaluation, maintaining case files and calendars.

- E-Filing Expertise: Knowledge of CA state and federal e-filing rules, procedures, and Northern California local court rules.

- Discovery Process: Support discovery tasks, including document review and production, drafting and responding to discovery requests, scheduling and assisting with deposition preparations.

- Law & Motion Practice: Draft and assemble motion papers, file pleadings and briefs, and ensure proper service. Analyze motions received from Plaintiff's counsel and research in support of response.

- Trial Support: Prepare pre-trial motions, exhibits, witness lists and other activities in advance of trial.

- Proofreading & Formatting: Proofread briefs and pleadings, prepare tables of contents and authorities, and perform cite-checking.

- Appeals: Prepare and file notices of appeal, designation of records, and appendices.

- Administrative Support: Handle administrative duties during lighter paralegal workloads.

Who We’re Looking For:

A motivated professional with proven experience in litigation support.

Detail-oriented and organized with excellent time-management skills.

Collaborative and adaptable, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

You will be part of a team and working with others amicably comes as second nature.

Requirements:

- Minimum 3 years litigation experience in California, with working knowledge of Calif Code of Civil Procedure (CCP), Calif. Rules of Court (CRC), as well as local court rules, and procedures for Northern California counties. Federal knowledge is a plus.

- Hands-on experience with civil litigation discovery and trial preparation

- Experience evaluating and assessing cases; whether from insurance defense or other litigation perspective

- Detailed knowledge of MS Office (including Word, Excel and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat

- Case management software experience

- Familiarity with basic legal software such as LexisNexis and e-filing portals

- Legal calendaring experience

- You have excellent English language skills (both written and verbal)

- Experience with timekeeping

- Paralegal Certificate or equivalent on the job experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant; College Degree a plus

- You live on the SF Peninsula or nearby (not more than 20 mi from San Mateo) and are looking for a full time position

Basics:

Hours: Monday - Friday 35 - 40 hours

Potential hybrid work option after 90-120 day training period
