Alameda County Parent’s Counsel is seeking independent contract panel attorneys to represent parents in juvenile dependency proceedings. Attorneys will have regular court appearances via Zoom and in person at the Juvenile Justice Center located in San Leandro, CA. Representation consists of advocating for your client’s constitutional right to parent at all stages of the juvenile dependency proceeding. Representation includes client interviews, providing ongoing assessments of the merits of cases, conferring with social workers, opposing counsel, other service providers, and meeting with clients. Attorneys are required to have a minimum of 8 hours training specific to juvenile dependency.
Qualifications
Must be licensed to practice law in California
Some experience in litigation and Family and/or Juvenile Dependency Law a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to build rapport with clients
Ability to work well as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication
Must have own office
Must carry own malpractice insurance
Must have open availability
Minimum 8 hours of Dependency Training (to be provided)
