Santa Cruz Port District is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time, provisional position of Maintenance Worker I or II. This position, under basic supervision, performs semi-skilled general labor and maintenance tasks for Santa Cruz Port District buildings, grounds, landscaping, docks, lift stations, dredge, and other harbor facilities, equipment, and infrastructure; performs work in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent and one to five years of experience in facilities and/or marina maintenance and construction, dredging operations, workboat operations and maintenance, marine engine maintenance, deckhand or related work.
Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and be insurable for the operation of Port District vehicles. Possession of any of the following certifications is desirable: SCUBA diving, welding, equipment operator, Red Cross lifesaving certification.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $4,009 to $6,219 per month, depending on qualifications.

Retirement: The District participates in the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS). Employees’ tiered placement is dependent on status as a “classic” member or “new” member.
