Do you like to travel? I do. And I want to do more of it. But I need a caregiver to accompany me so I can give my current caregiver the break he needs and deserves.
This is an ideal position for someone looking for periodic, incremental work to supplement their income and values the new experiences that travel provides. All travel expenses would be covered. The majority of trips would not be longer than a week in length. You just need to be able to do the driving (I provide the vehicle) and provide the personal care that I need throughout the trip.
A little about me: At age 62, I am an active quadriplegic man and rehabilitation counselor who supports people with disabilities to live fully and joyfully. I live in my own home in Santa Rosa, CA.
So what I am looking for in a traveling caregiver? Basically, someone who:
is easy going, attentive, patient, caring, honest, reliable, empathic, and a good communicator. You enjoy providing hands-on care in a spirit of mutual respect, teamwork, and generosity.
is registered as a caregiver with In-Home Support Services (IHSS) in Sonoma County (or are willing to register).
has a valid driver’s license and solid references.
is physically fit enough to maneuver a 180lb man
can assist with toileting, showering, shaving, personal grooming and dressing; administer medication
