Overview:
We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and professional Transport Driver to join our team. This position involves transporting clients to and from medical appointments, errands, and various other destinations. In addition to transport duties, the ideal candidate will also provide personal care support when needed, including assistance with dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal preparation. The role requires someone who is flexible, patient, and comfortable working with clients who may require mobility assistance such as wheelchairs, walkers, and gait belts.
Key Responsibilities:
-Transport: Safely transport clients to and from appointments, errands, and other destinations, both within the primary service area (Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Lake Counties) and occasionally outside of these areas.
-Personal Care: Assist clients with getting ready for appointments, including dressing, grooming, and toileting. Provide meal preparation and medication reminders as needed.
-Mobility Assistance: Support clients in getting in and out of the vehicle, including wheelchair assistance. Ability to push, pull, and maneuver clients safely into the van.
-Professionalism: Maintain a professional, friendly, and compassionate demeanor at all times, ensuring that clients feel respected and comfortable.
-Documentation: Complete and submit required documentation on time, including updates on client status and care provided.
-Safety Protocols: Follow safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of clients and maintain a clean, safe, and organized vehicle.
-Adaptability: Adapt to changing schedules and client needs. Flexibility in working hours, which may vary from -Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with occasional changes to earlier or later times.
-Technology: Use of Generations Homecare Systems for scheduling, reporting, and communication. Proficiency with email (Outlook) and online training modules is required.
Qualifications:
-Caregiver Experience: At least 1 year of professional caregiving experience is required.
-Transport Experience: At least 1 year of experience in transporting clients or passengers is required.
-Ability to safely assist clients in mobility (wheelchairs, walkers, gait belts), and use proper body mechanics.
-Ability to remain calm and professional when working with clients of varying needs.
-Strong communication skills, with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
-Ability to work independently while adhering to company protocols and policies.
-Must pass a background check and be able to provide proof of a valid driver’s license and insurance.
Additional Skills & Abilities:
-Experience with wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids is a plus.
-Willingness to attend mandatory online and hands-on training sessions.
-Ability to adapt to a variety of client needs and transport schedules.
-Must have a flexible attitude and be comfortable working within a dynamic environment.
