At Sonoma Water, Maintenance Workers perform various semi-skilled, light, and heavy manual tasks involving flood control and vegetation management, including maintenance of water channels and at wastewater facilities. Typical duties may include:
Performing trail and access road maintenance by mowing, pruning, and chipping vegetation (brush and trees)
Operating power tools and heavy and light equipment
Working outside, on sites throughout Sonoma County
Typical work schedule is 40 hours per week (10-hour days, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).
Our ideal candidates are punctual and safety-oriented individuals who are interested in physically demanding work outdoors. Additionally, they will also have an interest in learning new skills and possess:
A California Driver’s license
Experience with vegetation management or landscaping
Experience driving, experience with large vehicles and/or pulling trailers is a plus
Knowledge of riparian ecology and fire fuel reduction concepts such as shaded fuel breaks
