The Department of Health Services Public Health Division seeks qualified and eager individuals for multiple Environmental Health Technician - Extra-Help positions!
Environmental Health Technicians work in the Public Health Division as an integral part of the Department's Environmental Health Section (EHS). These positions help ensure the safety of recreational swimming sites along the Sonoma coast and the Russian River by performing regular monitoring and sampling activities. In addition, Environmental Health Technicians assist the waste tire enforcement program by performing waste tire surveillance activities and regulatory inspections of waste tire facilities.
The ideal candidates will possess:
An interest in the field of Environmental Health, with an enthusiasm to learn
Confidence using a computer, especially Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Critical thinking skills, with the ability to research an issue, prepare supporting documentation, and present your findings in a meaningful way
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to accurately document observations and provide clear and concise updates to Environmental Health program leadership
Dedication to promoting a healthy and safe environment
Intermittent, extra-help employees are limited in their employment to a maximum of 1,380 hours within any twelve-month consecutive period.
