Ozumo, one of San Francisco’s top Japanese restaurants, is seeking a Sushi Chef to join our team. Qualified applicants must be skilled at slicing sashimi, preparing nigiri and making sushi rolls. Compensation starts at $24/hour + tips. Tips range from $8/hour - $10/hour depending on business volume level. Qualified applicants must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities include:
Breaking down fish skillfully, performing light prep and sushi bar operations
Ensure proper station setup and breakdown.
Prepare orders of sashimi, nigiri and sushi rolls throughout shift
Work swiftly and maintain station cleanliness and sanitation
Be open to training and development from our skilled sushi chefs
Be able to follow recipes and demonstrate professional cooking techniques
Maintain a joyful, polite and professional appearance for our guests
Qualifications:
Three years experience as a sushi chef in a high quality, high volume sushi restaurant
Extensive knowledge of fish, shellfish, and products used in the preparation of sushi
Expert knife skills
Ability to form nigiri and roll sushi
Positive attitude and a desire to learn
Valid California Food Handler's Certification
Be able to lift 50 lbs and stand on feet for eight hours with appropriate breaks
