General Manager – Elevated Neighborhood Restaurant

We’re seeking a dynamic, experienced General Manager to lead a beloved, chef-driven neighborhood restaurant in Oakland. Known for its commitment to seasonal ingredients, exceptional hospitality, and community connection, our restaurant is a cornerstone of the local dining scene.

About the Role

As General Manager, you will oversee day-to-day operations, inspire and lead a high-performing team, and work closely with ownership and the culinary team to ensure an outstanding guest experience. You’ll serve as the heartbeat of the restaurant—fostering a culture of hospitality, accountability, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, train, and motivate FOH staff to deliver warm, attentive, and professional service

Drive operational excellence across floor management, staffing, scheduling, and inventory

Collaborate with the executive chef and ownership on service flow, menu rollouts, and guest feedback

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health regulations

Monitor financial performance, control costs, and support budgeting and forecasting

Be a visible and engaged leader during service—connecting with guests and cultivating regulars

Hire and onboard new staff, conduct performance reviews, and manage disciplinary actions with care and professionalism

Qualifications

3+ years of GM or AGM experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant

Deep understanding of hospitality and a sincere passion for food, wine, and service

Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team

Strong business acumen, with experience in P&L, budgeting, and scheduling

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Familiarity with POS systems (Toast experience a plus)

Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
