Job Summary
We’re looking for an experienced host or hostess—a dynamic individual who can welcome guests with charm, keep them laughing, and set the tone for a one-of-a-kind evening. A knowledge of restaurant business and guest flow is required, however, you’re not just seating people; you’re playing a role, interacting with guests in character, and keeping the energy alive. Think of it as a mix between a maître d’ and a stand-up comedian, with a dash of vintage speakeasy mystery.
Responsibilities
Coordinate Flow: Work with the service team to ensure smooth seating and an efficient yet relaxed dining experience.
Handle the Unexpected: Read the room, improvise when needed, and ensure that every guest leaves with a smile.
Greet & Guide: Welcome guests with charisma, manage reservations, and escort them to their tables.
Stay in Character: Develop and embody a unique persona that fits The Pawnshop’s speakeasy vibe—whether you're a fast-talking hustler, an old-time grifter, or a sly bartender with a past.
Engage & Entertain: Use humor, wit, and theatrical skills to interact with guests, breaking the ice and enhancing their experience.
Who We’re Looking For
Experience as a host in a restaurant (you know the basics of hospitality, understanding reservation platforms, seating, and creative problem solver).
Background in public relations and customer experience, comedy, acting, improv, or performance is a plus—or just a natural ability to make people laugh and be comfortable.
A passion for storytelling, theatrics, and immersive dining experiences.
Quick on your feet, adaptable, and able to read the energy of a crowd.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, lively environment.
