Wersterbeke Ranch is looking for a Chef to manage a vibrant kitchen and small staff 2-3 days per week (mix of Friday/Saturday/Sunday/Monday - fluctuating based on need) developing and executing a gourmet buffet meal service under the direction of the Executive Chef. This creative position determines and sets their own menus for our guests using fresh and local ingredients within parameters determined by the Head Chef and includes options for special diets and preferences. The Chef Lead manages and directs support staff to deliver high-quality, creative, great tasting, beautiful and nutritious food, managing all aspects of meal service and maintaining Ranch standards.
Special Events such as weddings, marketing events and private parties can and will be included.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee all general kitchen functions during assigned meal service
Interface with Head Chef to determine guests', kitchen and Ranch needs
Develop weekly menus and planning using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Creativity encouraged.
Oversee set-up of dining room for meal service
Prepare and assign production and prep work for he culinary team to complete
Maintain and upbeat, safe, healthy, and fun working environment
Requirements:
Previous experience as a supervisor, lead line cook, or lead Chef
ServeSafe certification (obtained within 30 days of onset of employment)
Works well under pressure
Communication skills that support a calm, happy and efficient environment
Positive attitude, ability to accept direction and commitment to the highest standards
Willingness to work a mix of days and nights, with weekends included. Flexibility is key.
Low ego and openness to feedback and improvements
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, lift, and use hands to work
Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds
Must have reliable transportation and a valid CDL
