High School Men's Soccer Head Varsity Coach

Starting May 1, Marin Catholic will begin reviewing candidates for a Men's Soccer Head Varsity Coach for the 2024-25 school year. Resumes will be welcome until the position is filled.

Coaches at Marin Catholic have the primary responsibility of promoting the school’s Catholic mission: Lead students to Jesus Christ. Coaches are responsible for character development by providing direction to student athletes so that they may achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. While this position’s primary responsibility will be coaching the Varsity team, the Men's Varsity Head Basketball Coach oversees the entire Men's Soccer program, including the Junior Varsity and Frosh teams.

The Head Coach will:

- Support the Marin Catholic mission: “Lead students to Jesus Christ” by creating an environment for the team that is emotionally and physically safe, positive, and respectful.

- Model good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards opposing teams, spectators, and officials.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

- Develop individual skill sets, techniques, and game strategies necessary for overall team improvement.

- Work closely with the Athletic Administration to hire qualified Assistant and Lower Level coaches.

- Ensure that rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility are communicated and followed.

- Attends all required meetings scheduled by the MC Athletic Department and MCAL.

- Work directly with MC Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach reporting injuries and teaching precautions to ensure safety and prevent injuries.

- Communicate effectively and build positive working relationships between team members, parents, athletic department, administration, teachers, other coaches, athletes, officials, and opponents.

- Maintain all required coaching certification. Complete forms and documents in a timely manner.

- Collaborate with the Athletic Administration on assigned tasks including but not limited to scheduling games, managing the operating budget, organizing team awards and banquets, and distributing and collecting uniforms.

Requirements:

- Practicing Catholic in good standing, preferred

- Playing experience and/or knowledge of soccer

- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or higher.

- Effective written and verbal communication with student-athletes, parents, and MC Athletic Administration

- Strong management and organizational skills

- Commitment to creating a positive individual and team experience

- Advanced knowledge of the rules, skills, and techniques/strategies of soccer

- Ability to teach, advocate and model Christian and educational values to student-athletes

-Available for afternoon, evening, and weekend practices and games during season (October - March) and off season, as needed

This position is non-exempt (hourly). Coaches will earn $16.00/hr. The Athletics Department has discretion on bonuses. All employees earn sick time according to California state law.
