The After School teacher works with the director of the program to supervise students. He/she/they is responsible for knowing the whereabouts of each student in his/her/their charge at all times during duty hours. In this role, the teacher ensures children’s safety, manages children’s behavior using the Agreement System, and acts as a role model and mentor. The teacher should be patient, enthusiastic, self-controlled, and dependable.
Requirements:
Be a mature and responsible person
Have first aid, CPR, AED training and certificate
Have online Mandated Reporter training and certificate
Pass the Live Scan test
Duties:
Check in with the Director of After School regarding students and daily schedule
Check students into the program
Supervise students
Coordinate activities and games for the students
Prepare afternoon snack for the children
Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies
Work one-on-one with children who are having difficulty participating in the program
Use the Agreement System
Handle questions, problems, and concerns of parents/guardians
Conduct the Afternoon Meeting
Coordinate daily cleanup of the Big Room and yards
Remain visible and accessible to other staff members and students
Other duties as needed
