The Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District (District) Marketing & Events Department is pleased to announce an opening for a part-time Special Events Assistant position. Under the direction of the Events Coordinator, the Special Events Assistant helps plan, coordinate, and execute District community events.
| Essential Functions |
Event logistics including event setup, tear-down, and day-of-event operations.
Vendor, sponsor, and community partner communication.
Recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers and event staff.
Responsible for event materials and equipment management.
On-site support during events, including attendee registration, answering questions, and addressing issues as they arise.
Social media posts, flyer distribution, and community outreach efforts in
coordination with marketing staff.
Post-event evaluations, surveys, and reporting on event outcomes and attendee
feedback.
General administrative duties such as managing event calendars, maintaining
records, and preparing reports.
Other duties as assigned.

| Qualifications |
Experience
High school diploma or GED required. A degree, internship, or coursework in Event Planning, Hospitality, Recreation, or a related field is preferred but not required; relevant or related experience may substitute.
Skills & Abilities
To perform this job successfully, the following computer skills are required:
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Drive, etc.)
Proficiency in Canva or other design software, Mailchimp/Constant Contact or other email marketing software
Additional requirements:
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for events
Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation
CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Hours: Up to 20 hours/week
Hourly Rate: $20.42 – $24.82/hour (DOE)
Position does not qualify for District benefits.
