Our restaurant group is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist/Accounting Clerk to join our team. Having administrative experience within the restaurant industry is preferred. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing payroll for all restaurant units, ensuring accuracy and compliance with city and county regulations. The ideal candidate will have administrative restaurant experience, strong technical accounting skills and experience with accounting software, Accountedge, is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Process semi-monthly payroll for restaurant employees accurately and on time utilizing both Paychex and Toast payroll platforms.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Handle accounts payable tasks, i.e. vendor bills, payments, reconcile statements, as well as update excel inventory spreadsheets
- Assist with year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation
- Liaise with HR and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters
- Maintain accurate records of employee earnings, deductions, and hours worked, i.e. staff clock outs, breaks, penalties, etc.
Experience:
- Minimum two years’ experience as a Payroll Specialist and Accounting, or similar roles, especially within the restaurant industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong knowledge of technical accounting principles and practices within restaurants
- Familiarity with governmental accounting regulations is a plus
- Proficiency in using accounting software such as Accountedge
- Accounting degree or equivalent work experience
