Summary of Job Details
The Information Systems Administrator is responsible for strategic planning, security, operation, and acquisition of information technology as it supports the research, education and administrative functions of the Department of Mathematics. Under the general direction of the Business Officer and the computing committee, the System Administrator is responsible for maintaining a complex departmental computing infrastructure. Responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems, services, and user applications for Windows, Linux and Mac OS environments. Responsible for administration of network services, departmental backup systems, financial back up systems (GUS), a variety of computational applications, productivity tools running on departmental servers, faculty and visitor workstations. Directly responsible for the implementation and reliability of the department technical environment, based upon goals and available resources.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
At least 1-5 years of experience in systems administration, IT project management, or related roles.
Strong knowledge of system administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers and desktop systems.
Understanding of security best practices, including intrusion detection, vulnerability management, and incident response.
