Summary of Job Details
The Director provides overall management for all programs, services, and funding offered by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships; provides leadership to department staff of approximately 35 financial aid professionals, involved in administering over $425 million in annual financial aid funding received by over 19,000 students. The Director is responsible for federal, state, and University of California policy interpretation and development, organizational strategy, long-term planning, evaluating, and directing the units responsible for delivering financial aid, staff supervision, budget and fiscal administration and oversight. Also is responsible for ensuring that the services provided by the department adhere to federal, state, university, and campus policies and has responsibility for working cooperatively with other campus committees and departments and serves as campus representative to the UC System-wide Education Finance Model (EFM) committee. Oversees effective funds management activities, including reconciliation activities, FISAP, operational budgets, etc. Collaborates closely with staff and managers in Information Technology Services (ITS) on technical solutions and strategies for the delivery and reconciliation of all financial aid funding.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience and training
Demonstrated financial acumen and/or related experience in fiscal management, including budgeting, financial forecasting, and/or fiscal operations oversight.
Demonstrated expertise in financial aid and its related areas like enrollment, technology, etc.
Strong leadership skills with experience in staff management, development, and evaluation.
Ability to analyze data for strategic planning and to manage large-scale programs.
Experience in policy development and implementation, as well as compliance management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
Significant or substantive years of progressive experience in financial aid administration
