Job Title: Camp Counselor - Beach Camp
Location: Santa Claus Lane and Bates BEach
Schedule: Monday through Friday Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Duration: 8 weeks, from June 23rd to August 15th, 2024 (No camp Friday July 4th) We will work with you to take whatever days/weeks off that you need.
Pay Rate: $20-25/hour (Depending on experience and opportunity to increase pay based on performance
Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Camp Counselor to join our team at Orca Camp. As a Counselor, you will oversee daily camp activities, ensure the safety and well-being of campers, coordinate with other counselors, implement camp programs & activities, and facilitate engaging outdoor adventures.
Orca Camp is one of California’s oldest and most fun outdoor summer camps. We’re not just a surf camp like all the other camps, although we do love playing in the waves. We also find joy telling stories, learning about the ocean and sea creatures, playing beach games, playing ukulele, making arts & crafts, exploring tidepools, building driftwood forts, and campers are always inventing new games! Every day is different when the children decide what they would like to do.

Required Skills:
- Previous experience working with children in a camp or outdoor education setting is preferred but will not be a dealbreaker if we find the right candidate.
- Confidence in and around the ocean. We'd prefer if you can surf, kayak, paddleboard, and help campers learn.
- Enthusiasm for arts & crafts, our younger campers enjoy building sandcastles, making friendship bracelets, clay modeling, painting, and more.
- Being able to solve problems with campers, teaching them what is right and wrong, etc.
- Knows CPR
- Your own means of transportation to and from camp
