SUMMARY:

The work of a staff accountant includes a wide range of accounting tasks to assist the department of finance services and aid to assure compliance with GAAP. Journal entries to accounts receivable, payroll, and revenue are a large portion of duties assigned. Responsible for filing and tallying deposits. S/He must also be detail oriented and good with numbers. Additionally, working with calculators, databases and bank statements is a regular part of the job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payables:

Matches invoices to purchase orders and packing slips, readying the bills for payment. Additional verification processes may be necessary.

Reviews invoices and resolves any invoice irregularities or discrepancies.

Verifies that invoices have been approved by appropriate personnel.

Codes and accurately enters payables into Sage Intacct and sets up new vendors in the Sage Intacct.

Sets up invoices for payments based on due dates and manages regular payables in which invoices are not provided. For example, “Rents.”

Corresponds with vendors and responds to inquiries.

Prints Checks.

Matches invoices to checks and presents them for signature.

Reconciles monthly vendor statements.

Maintains vendor files.

Assists in annual distribution of 1099’s and mapping 1099 vendors in Sage Intacct.

Performs bank reconciliations and Telecheck and Merchant reconciliations in a timely manner and posts any resulting journal entries.

Journal Entries include: Accruals, Prepaids, and others.

Miscellaneous:

Work on other special projects as needed

Computers:

Must be proficient with Excel, Outlook mail and calendar.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Demonstrate understanding of and observe all SBNC policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

2. Demonstrate successful work-related behaviors.

3. Attend SBNC meetings as required.

4. Interact with patients, physicians, staff, vendors, and visitors in a positive manner that reflects the SBNC mission and philosophy.

5. Participate in work – related seminars and webinars to stay current with industry rules and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.

Experience: Prior experience in non-profit plus/ or medical industry preferred.

Knowledge of: Sage Intacct or similar software with ability to quickly transfer skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Excel skills.

Physical Demands: May be required to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard. Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal range. Ability to move about.

Salary Range: $32 - $35 /hr
