They specialize in transforming and optimizing underutilized properties in rapidly growing, supply-constrained markets. They focus on creating build-for-rent communities and industrial properties, aiming to deliver sustainable projects, support community revitalization, and achieve exceptional investment performance.The Family Office (FO) associated with this firm is located in the San Francisco area and supports the two principals of the firm. This role involves managing financial reporting, bill payments, treasury management, tax compliance and planning, estate planning, property management, and philanthropic activities for a highly active family. The principals handle the majority of the investment management process themselves.Responsibilities:

Support the Controller and Head of Finance and Accounting with diverse accounting and financial reporting duties for the Family Office and Investment Funds

Keep the general ledgers and accounting records for the family and their portfolio of residential and commercial properties and investments up-to-date

Oversee the alternative investment portfolio, manage capital calls, and subscribe to new investments as identified by the family

Manage bill payments and keep an eye on bank account balances

Review monthly bank/brokerage statements, including downloading and filing online bank statements and tax documents from bank websites

Process payments and keep track of all government and compliance tax filings

Help prepare year-end tax workpapers and supporting schedules for the external tax team

Manage and reconcile various other financial schedules

Prepare quarterly personal financial statements and other ad hoc reports

Undertake various special projects, ad hoc, and administrative tasks as requested

Work with the Controller and Head of Finance and Accounting to maintain and improve the internal control framework

Requirements

Who You Are: You excel at fostering strong relationships and see it as a key strength. You communicate effectively with your team and the executive committee. You efficiently manage your time, prioritize tasks, and make decisions. Your organizational and analytical skills are essential to your success.What You’ll Bring:

A four-year degree in accounting or a similar field; CPA preferred

At least 5 years of experience in accounting/operations

Experience with Family Office or high net worth tax and accounting is advantageous but not necessary

Proficiency in all aspects of accounts payable and general ledger accounting functions

Tech-savvy with advanced knowledge of Google and Apple products; proficient with Google Suite (calendar, drive, sheets), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Zoom, and other online communication tools; familiar with project management/messaging tools; quick to learn new applications

Familiarity with Yardi Voyager and QuickBooks accounting software is preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill information into clear and concise formats
