Job description-Maintain landscapes and grounds at our 3 campuses

Mow, edge, trim, water lawns, and other turf on grounds; prepare and fertilize soil; water various grounds areas and potted plants by hand or by operating the irrigation system; inspect grounds areas for maintenance needs and report conditions to appropriate personnel.

Plant, cultivate, prune, fertilize, and irrigate ground covers, flowers, trees, grass, and shrubs; hoe and pull weeds, rake leaves; edge walkways; sweep, pick up, haul and dispose of cuttings, branches, leaves, and other debris following assigned tasks; haul sand, dirt, fertilizer, and other materials as directed.

Perform general grounds cleanup, including picking up paper and trash on grounds areas, blow all parking lots, playgrounds, sidewalks and other assigned areas.

Operate a variety of power-driven tools and equipment such as mowers, edgers, blowers, sweepers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other equipment used in grounds work; drive a vehicle to conduct work.

Utilize standard landscaping hand tools such as pruners, loppers, saws, shovels, hoes, and rakes.

Apply pest and weed control methods to eradicate weeds, insects, and other pests according to established procedures.

Maintain grounds maintenance equipment in safe operating condition; perform maintenance on equipment such as sharpening and changing blades, greasing, and changing oil; perform minor repairs as needed.

Communicate with other staff, faculty, administrators, and outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues of maintenance, repairs, safety, and other grounds keeping related issues.

Perform maintenance and repair of irrigation systems is a must; adjust and repair sprinklers.

Normal shift is Wednesday through Friday. Occasional shift changes required with this position to help with large campus events and facility projects. Must be able to lift 50lbs, work on slopes and uneven ground, ladders and work throughout the summer in the warm temperatures.

Job Type: Part-Time

Pay-$22-$24 per hour

Expected hours: up to 29 hours per week

Landscape maintenance: 2 years (Preferred)

Valid CA driver's license in good standing (Required)

Must complete live scan fingerprinting background check prior to employment
