Wage: $20-23/hr depending on qualifications and experience.

Hours: Work schedule is flexible to approx. 10/week, including Sunday mornings.

NOTE: Position has potential for more hours, 15-20/wk, if a candidate also brings experience in digital content

creation and management.

Description:

The Youth Director is a vital part of our progressive Christian church. We want our youth to have rich connections with one another, God, and the people of this church.

The youth leader would ensure quality programming, support, and mentoring for our youth grades 6-12. The Youth Director is part of the church staff and is responsible for Sunday youth group that meets during worship Sunday mornings. Responsibilities also include planning and communication during the week and regular additional youth activities, trips, and outings.

The Youth Director would work with the Lead Minister, the Office Administrator, the Education

Ministry Team, leaders among the youth themselves, and volunteers to engage the youth in

Sunday worship and formation, youth group gatherings, and in the life and ministry of the church. It is important to connect with our youth where they are, and be in effective communication with parents.

The Youth Director reports to the Lead Minister.

About us:

We are a multi-generational, Open and Affirming church in the United Church of

Christ, a progressive Christian national denomination. Our current youth numbers are around

15 active participants from 6th -12th grade, with more or less depending on the Sunday and the activity. On average, we have 80 people in worship on a Sunday.

Qualifications:

-Experience in working with young people

-Passion and enthusiasm for relating to teens and tweens

-College education and/or relevant coursework

-High aptitude for organization, planning, and creating inclusive environments

-Extensive communication skills across email, newsletter platforms, Zoom, texting, verbally, as well as platforms youth use.

-Self-starter who is confident working with minimal supervision

-The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the United Church of Christ, progressive

Christianity, and experience working with youth in church activities.
