Position Summary:

The Batching, Filling & Packaging Operator is responsible for filling and packaging products assigned from the weekly schedule to achieve daily production numbers needed to fulfill the plant delivery schedule. Their duties include placing raw materials or products into preparation for shipment as stated in fill ticket/purchase order, packaging finished products and organizing them for shipments and completing checks on equipment and products to ensure quality production standards.

In this position, you will be part of a team working in a manufacturing plant environment working with a batching system process, operating machinery, driving forklifts, using computer and scanning devices, pre-staging raw materials, packaging, filling, palletizing, lifting, cleaning, communicating, and maintaining equipment while following company quality and safety policies and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

With the guidance of the Production Supervisor or Team Lead, meet and abide by fulfillment schedule, maintaining accuracy in excess of 99% (less than 1% error rate for all finished products).

Move, manipulate & load packaging materials including but not limited to, cans, cartons, trays and pallets.

Load cans onto packaging equipment, ensure proper assembly of finished goods and offload finished goods onto pallets while maintaining Westcoat’s standards of quality.

Maintain a clean & organized production environment in accordance with manufacturing & safety requirements.

Prepare accurate material transfer tags and manufacturing logs.

Replenish manufacturing racks with raw materials and supplies as needed.

Maintain accurate production documentation while ensuring fluid communication with the supervisory or production team on any changes, corrective actions, mechanical breakdowns, etc., report any safety concerns to Supervisor on duty.

Clean and maintain equipment working collaboratively with the rest of the production and warehouse team.

Additional duties as assigned.

Must Haves:

At least six+ (6) months of previous manufacturing experience.

Ability to read and follow manufacturing related documents including batch records, SOP’s, fill tickets and forms.

Good analytical skills, math aptitude, time management skills and can multitask all while prioritizing safety.

Demonstrate a professional and engaged demeanor at all times and treats every employee, customer and client with dignity and respect in all interactions.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as a team.

Able to regularly twist, turn, kneel, climb, stoop, bend, crawl, lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 - 70 pounds using appropriate equipment, techniques, tools and/or assistance. Able to stand, walk, and be on your feet for prolonged periods; 8+ hours.

Experience operating a forklift or ability to be certified to operate a forklift.

Experience working with hazardous materials & adhering to safety protocols.

What You Will Earn:

The starting hourly base pay for this role is between USD $17 to $20 per hour.

Location, Schedule & Travel:

This position is fully in-person based at our headquarters San Diego, CA.

Anticipated schedule to be between the hours of 7:30AM to 4:00 PM with the occasional need to work overtime as needed to meet production schedule & business need.
