Maintenance Technician II [Mon-Fri, 8:30am - 5:00pm]

We are a spiritual non-profit organization seeking a Maintenance II professional. This is a full-time position located in Encinitas, CA, and it is for a temporary period of 3 – 6 months or longer.

Responsibilities:

To perform the essential functions of the job at an intermediate level.

Paint, vanish, stain, enamel, lacquer and apply coatings to walls, woodwork, ferrous and non-ferrous metal railings, gates, furniture, doors, windows, trim, gutters, flashing, fixtures and equipment.

Patch and repair interior and exterior drywall and stucco.

Repair furniture finishes.

Remove old finishes.

Fill and prep surfaces prior to coating.

Cut and reglaze glass.

Apply coatings with brush, roller or spray equipment.

Operate and properly maintain all equipment including air sprayer, HVLP sprayer, airless sprayer, sandblaster and water blasting equipment.

Requisition new painting supplies and equipment.

Read blueprints and specification schedules.

Estimate time and material costs on painting projects.

Orient and/or train other employees as directed.

Ability to demolish or deconstruct areas for remodeling purposes.

Ability to assist with grading – soil removal and re-compaction, grading for footings, pads, other hardscape,

Construct block walls, other types of retaining walls.

Lathing – both interior and exterior.

Operate rental equipment– tractors, scissor lifts, high reaches, and demolition tools.

Carpentry skills – rough framing, finish framing.

Other position related tasks, as assigned.

Requirements:

A minimum of three to five years experience in painting preferred.

The ability to apply advanced skill in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment necessary for the job.

The ability to function well in a multi-task environment.

The ability to honor and maintain a strict level of confidentiality.

The ability to operate and maintain sanders, grinders, polishers, sprayers and blasting equipment.

The ability to operate demolition tools and equipment.

Knowledge of grading equipment – trenchers, compactors, Bobcat tractors, laser levels, and trench plates.

Knowledge of masonry equipment and skills – concrete, block wall construction, interior and exterior lathing for plaster and stucco, plaster and stucco installation, core drilling.

Knowledge of insulation placement – bats and blown-in for R-rated walls, ceilings, and floors.

Knowledge of construction equipment – Tractors, scissor lift, high reach, trenchers, compactors, demolition hammers.

Knowledge of carpentry skills – rough framing, finish framing.

Knowledge of ladders, planking, scaffolding and rigging.

Perform proper drywall and stucco techniques.

The ability to repair furniture finishes, install wallpaper, cut, and re-glaze glass.

Knowledge of protective coatings and skilled in the removal of old finishes.

The ability to read blueprints and specification schedules.

The ability to perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Help to train, orient and review the work of others.

Basic English language skills preferred.

The ability to lift up to 80 lbs., sit, stand, walk, push or pull, climb and stretch for extended periods of time.
