We are a small 1.5-acre ranch in El Cajon, with a breeding operation for sheep, goats, and llamas. Sometimes, we even incubate chickens and other fowl. We also have horses, a calf, dogs, rabbits and some fish :-)
Your job will be cleaning up after the animals first and foremost. This means every day you will be cleaning stalls of horses, sheep, goats, and the calf and regularly cleaning up after the llamas, chickens, ducks, rabbits and the dogs. Every day you need to fill all waters to the top. Every day raking up the property such as hay that has been dropped after feeding.
Looking for someone ready for hard work, who isn't afraid to get dirty and go home smelling like manure or a buck.
This is NOT a job where you are going to come cuddle or play with my animals. You are going to clean up after them and make sure their needs are met. Make sure the property is clean neat and presentable at all times.
Large animal experience required; you will be interviewed by the animals. We have Anatolian Shepherds who guard the property. They like some people and others they simple never will. You need to be on their good side or it won't work. The horse want to be lead and tied properly. The ram requires you can move around him, catch him if needed. The goats and sheep require a fast sure hand.
The job will include
SELF-MODIVATED — I need work done, and you need to be able to see what needs to be done and do it. I don't have time to babysit or micromanage you.
animal manure - poop cleaning through out property, stalls mostly but we the dogs run the property and we turn out animals regularly,
raking up hay, leaves, animal hair, cleaning spider webs, and picking up and keeping the entire property neat
weeding and plant maintenance, planting a small bush or plant every now and then, maybe digging a ditch in the rain
water bucket filling and scrubbing as needed,
turning out animals, moving them to different locations, catching animals, holding animals for care needed, hoof clipping, light grooming
fixing fences, adjusting fences, as needed
whatever is needed to keep the property running.

We do raise animals for human consumption - if this bothers you, do NOT apply. Also animals will be sold when they don't work with the operation, you can't get attached to them. This is run as a business. If that bothers you, do NOT apply.
This will be a full-time job, but we might need to adjust hours based on weather and season, (when it is hot come early, take off middle of day finish in the evening or short winter days, come in later not in the dark).
Pay is $20/hour with insurance benefits.
