Vista Community Clinic’s Tobacco Program is the leader in tobacco control and prevention across North San Diego County. We work with community members and partners to advance public policy efforts through advocacy and education. Program areas focus on the following:Reducing exposure to secondhand smoke in multi-unit housing complexes, outdoor dining areas and other outdoor placesReducing youth and young adult access to and marketing of tobacco products in the retail environment, including electronic smoking devices (i.e. e-cigarettes or vapes)Providing smoking cessation supportDeveloping youth leadership and advocacy skillsEssential Job FunctionsResearch and develop a wide range of culturally and community specific materials, such as flyers, trainings, articles and social media postsConduct online research into policy makers and community conditions as related to policy goalsAssist in data collection and data entry activities (such as public opinion surveys, environmental observations and focus groups)Inventory, order and stock tobacco control educational materialsAttend professional and community-based meetings (both virtually and in-person)Enhance professional growth and development through participation in trainings and workshops QualificationsMinimumInterest in public policy, community or health education, community organizing or related fieldCommitted to meet minimum hour requirements for desired internship (independent work and flexible schedule permitted)Self-starter with initiative and ability to work independentlyPersonal computer with reliable Internet for remote workComputer skills including Zoom and Microsoft Office programs (experience with Excel)Good oral and written communication skillsValid California driver’s license and vehicle insurance and reliable transportationSelected applicants will complete VCC Volunteer Application and be given instructions to complete required background check and TB test (at no cost to applicant)Interns will attend VCC Volunteer Orientation prior to starting internshipRequired Skills/Knowledge/AbilitiesAbility to work independently, take initiative, and be proactiveAbility to track and manage time effectively Experience/familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel), business e-mail communication systems and internet search capabilitiesPay Range$21.00/hrPI241294109 Apply
