Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to prepare high-quality, balanced meals for our meal prep clients in their home kitchens. This is a hands-on role where you will play a key part in grocery shopping, meal preparation, and client experience. This is a high-end custom service, so you must be committed to delivering consistent, top-notch culinary results and be personable in the process.
Responsibilities:
- Meal Preparation: Prepare meals according to our established recipes and standards, ensuring all dishes are consistently high quality and meet client specifications.
- Ingredient Management: Oversee inventory, including restocking necessary ingredients in client pantries and fridge. Maintain proper storage of meals once prepared.
- Kitchen Management: Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment in client homes. Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards including but not limited to washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and ensuring all cookware is properly cleaned.
- Recipe Development: Collaborate with the head chef to develop new recipes and meal ideas that align with our clients' preferences and dietary needs.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the company owner and head chef to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
- Client Interaction: Occasionally engage with clients to understand their preferences, ask questions, and provide customized meal solutions.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a meal prep or catering environment.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredient handling, and food safety standards.
- Ability to follow a recipe and season foods, to taste.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable transportation with your own vehicle.
- Flexibility with scheduling and availability to work varied hours as needed.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, professional attitude.
- Legally set-up to work as an independent contractor with a business license, or ability to get one before hire.
Preferred:
- Passion for healthy food and nutrition.
- Culinary degree or formal training is a plus, but not a necessity.
- Experience with dietary restrictions and special meal plans (e.g., gluten-free, vegan).
- Familiarity and knowledge of meal prep.
