Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Boat Captain, Boat Crew (Host/Deckhand), Dock Attendant to join our team. Personable and customer service friendly Captains and Crew double base pay with tips. The Boat Captain will be responsible for managing and operating boats, ensuring the safety of passengers and crew, and maintaining the vessel in good condition. Crew would be responsible for customer safety, and customer interactions on-and-off the dock, as well as reporting to the Captain when necessary to safely operate the vessel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide excellent customer service to passengers

- Safely operate and navigate boats in various water conditions

- Manage the mechanical systems on the boat

- Ensure compliance with all maritime laws and regulations

- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the boat

- Conduct safety briefings for passengers

- Handle emergency situations calmly and effectively

- Follow safety procedures to ensure the protection of passengers, crew, and the vessel

- Participate in routine safety & emergency preparedness drills

- Welcome guests on the vessel with the highest level of customer service

- Handle lines to moor vessels to pier

- Assist with general maintenance on vessel

- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of all common areas

- Load or unload materials such as trash from vessel

- Provide exceptional hospitality to guests and coworkers

- Be prepared to begin work at scheduled time

- Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards

- Other duties as assigned by the Captain or First Mate on duty

Experience:

- Proven experience as a Boat Captain or similar role

- Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor issues on board

- Ability to manage and lead a crew effectively

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Must perform and participate in required Coast Guard training and emergency drills to ensure a safe tour for our guests

- Must be able to board and exit the vessel and assist patrons boarding and exiting the vessel

- Shall be able to read, write and speak fluent English to communicate with fellow Crew members, the public, law reinforcement and emergency personnel

- Ability to sit for long periods of time, lift up to 50 pounds, and tolerate a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions

Requirements and Qualifications:

- High School diploma or equivalent

- Valid 25-ton Captain’s License (MMC) Required for Captain position only

- Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age

- Pre-employment and on-going random drug testing are required for all marine personnel

- Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkers

- Strong focus on safety and teamwork while actively looking for ways to help others

- Will work for extended periods of time without sitting

- Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds; moving heavy items such as provisions up and dock ramps

- Must be able to throw mooring lines from ship to pier

- Must have normal color vision to interpret navigational lights and color-sensitive systems & safety displays

- Receptive to working nights/weekends and major holidays

- Per US Coast Guard regulations, must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident

- Must have a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable and verifiable driving record of at least three years

- Must pass a DOT physical and CPR/First Aid training upon employment

- Successful candidate must pass a drug test and a background search
