AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Biologist/Senior Project Manager for immediate employment within AECOM's Southern California Natural Resources Group. This hybrid role will be based in our San Diego, CA office.This position would focus on project and technical management of a range of natural resource projects in the southern California region, including biological surveys, regulatory compliance, and permitting, with a focus on So Cal utility, local agency, and renewables clients. Primary duties include managing projects involving impact assessments, mitigation planning, regulatory compliance and permitting efforts including CEQA/NEPA, 404/401, CESA, and ESA, and preparing environmental documents and management plans. The successful candidate will contribute to growth of the So Cal department through marketing pursuits including proposal preparation, interviews, and business development. Technical mentorship and succession planning for the next generation of biological resources leadership is also a key element of this role. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:Manage projects and teams to prepare large, complex natural resources documents such as Biological Technical Reports, Biological Assessments, Resource Permit Applications, and Habitat Conservation Plans. Operates as primary author or senior reviewer as appropriateManage multi-disciplinary projects that include all aspects of environmental analysis (e.g., biological, cultural, air quality, traffic, etc.)Manage projects/programs requiring adherence to permit conditions with large-scale field efforts and intensive schedulesWork on environmental documents related to high profile infrastructure projects, with particular emphasis on renewable energy and electric transmission projectsManage due diligence efforts for siting renewable energy projects and associated infrastructurePerform project management duties such as forecasting, tracking, accounting updates, invoicing, progress reports, and scheduling, and takes corrective action where necessaryOperates as primary point of contact for clients and resource agencies on projectsOversee the work of early career staff and provide technical mentorshipParticipates in interviews with large or small team for a variety of clientsContributes to growth of practice through business development, including generating business via existing and new contractsAbout AECOM’s Environment Business Line
