PC Support Technician

Provide hardware and software technical support inclusive of as end-point peripheral devices well as Incident and Service Request resolutions, from end users and or various escalation groups. Performs routine installations, troubleshooting and upgrades of software applications and hardware configurations.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under limited supervision, this position provides technical support for the installation,

repair, and preventive maintenance of personal computers and related systems including a

variety of peripheral devices.

Performs complex installations, upgrades, and backups of software and hardware

applications.

Determines the method and procedure for troubleshooting software and hardware failures

as well as identifying network problems that relate to personal computers.

Exercising judgment and initiative, provides technical information, prioritizes, and

determines appropriate action on request from all levels of employees and vendors.

Prepares and maintains various electronic and hard copy reports and logs.

May provide user training and may provide direction to less experienced technical staff.

Installs, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on a variety of new and/or

complex personal computers and peripheral devices.

Sets up and tests complex personal computer systems, peripherals, and software.

Provides general hardware and software support for users, provides user training, and

guides users having difficulty with personal computers, peripherals, or software.

Determines methods or techniques to analyze, test, and diagnose failed equipment and

software and coordinates repairs.

Identifies network issues.

Coordinates with vendors to resolve hardware/software issues and may review and

recommend new hardware and software.

Prepares and maintains electronic and hard reports and logs, including purchase orders

and equipment inventories.

May assist in planning and designing personal computer support systems.

May work the help desk and provide telephone support or arrange for service of trouble

calls to users.

May use a vehicle to pick up or deliver hardware and software.

Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations

wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures

and practices.

Other duties as assigned or required.

Typically requires an Associate's degree with an emphasis in information technology, or a related discipline, along with two or more years of progressive personal computer technical experience in an information technology department. May substitute a certificate in information technology from a recognized organization and equivalent experience in lieu of education.

Experience with Linux and Mac is highly preferred

Requires an in-depth knowledge of department policies and procedures, and a comprehensive understanding of relevant current personal computers, operating systems and associated peripheral equipment.

Must be customer focused and demonstrate the ability: to troubleshoot complex technical situations; use judgment and initiative to resolve issues or situations and make recommendations; communicate and interface effectively with all levels of personnel, including senior management; interpret and explain complex information; and establish priorities.

A valid driver's license is required

Ability to work extended hours as required.
